Hod's Message
The Department has B.Tech and M.Tech program in Civil Engineering. There are 19 high end teaching and research laboratories in the department. The Department also hosts various seminars and training program for learning various designing software. The greatest asset of the Civil Department is its highly educated and motivated faculty. Our aim is to deliver the best to our students, to the society and the nation.
Er. Sandeep Pannu
It gives me immense pleasure to introduce you to the Department of Civil Engineering in MRIEM. The department was established in the year 2008 to cater the ever increasing demand of Civil Engineers in industry and academia. It has been our endeavour, right from the beginning, to make our department a preferred destination for students who want to get to the top of this field. We aspire to mould our students into globally competent and well chiseled Civil Engineers who can meet the challenges of technological advancement. The students are groomed to be thorough professionals with blend of up-to-date technical knowledge and field experience. All efforts are also being made to inculcate social values and professional ethics in our students to face the current as well as future global standards.

Carrier Prospects
Career prospects in Structural and Construction Engineering are diverse and promising, offering opportunities for growth and impact in various sectors of the construction industry. Here's a glimpse into some of the rewarding career paths:
1. Structural Engineer: Structural engineers design and analyze the frameworks of buildings, bridges, and other structures to ensure they can withstand environmental forces and meet safety standards. They work closely with architects and construction teams to create sound structural designs.
2. Construction Project Manager: Project managers oversee construction projects from start to finish, ensuring that they are completed on time, within budget, and according to specifications. They coordinate with architects, engineers, contractors, and other stakeholders to streamline operations and address any issues that arise during construction.
3. Construction Cost Estimator: Cost estimators analyze project blueprints and specifications to estimate the cost of materials, labor, and equipment needed for construction projects. They play a crucial role in budgeting and resource allocation, helping ensure that projects remain financially viable.
4. Construction Scheduler: Schedulers develop and maintain construction schedules, identifying critical milestones and allocating resources to ensure timely project completion. They use specialized software to create comprehensive project timelines and monitor progress throughout the construction process.
5. Building Inspector: Building inspectors examine construction projects to ensure compliance with building codes, zoning regulations, and safety standards. They conduct inspections at various stages of construction to identify potential issues and ensure that structures are built to code.
6. Structural Designer/Drafter: Structural designers and drafters use computer-aided design (CAD) software to create detailed plans and technical drawings for construction projects. They work closely with engineers and architects to translate conceptual designs into practical blueprints for construction.
7. Materials Engineer: Materials engineers research, develop, and test materials used in construction, such as concrete, steel, and asphalt. They evaluate the properties and performance of materials to optimize durability, sustainability, and cost-effectiveness in construction projects.
8. Civil Engineer: Civil engineers are involved in the planning, design, and construction of infrastructure projects, including roads, bridges, dams, and water supply systems. While they cover a broad spectrum of projects, their expertise in structural and construction engineering is invaluable.
Overall, the field of Structural and Construction Engineering offers a wealth of opportunities for professionals to contribute to the built environment, enhance infrastructure, and shape the world we live in. With ongoing advancements in technology and sustainability, the demand for skilled professionals in this field is expected to remain strong in the years to come.
